DFY Emergency Response Team

The past experiences shared by many humanitarian emergency workers shared is that the civilian medical community is unprepared to deal with rapid events that can overwhelm local and regional medical systems .Most medical practitioners have never considered the paradigm shift that occurs in disasters from unlimited resources to limited resources allocated to the greatest number of patients. It will always be necessary to have a local health service respond to a disaster, butdepending upon the scale, nature or geographical site of the incident, support fromother areas may be required. The experience of working in Bihar floods initiated the DFY team to come up with such a concept of an emergency response team. Through its efforts, DFY aspires to develop a trained and skilled team of medical practitioners that could respond to disasters as quickly as possible and do not grapple with the sudden chaos of the situation.DFY team's target is to provide such an emergency response team in South East Asia region in the near future.
