General
1.What is the difference between getting a membership under Doctors For You society, and being a Doctors For You Volunteer?
With a membership, you have the right to attend the Doctors For You Annual General Meeting (AGM), as well as any Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) if needed, and you will have the opportunity to vote on issues raised during the meetings.
As a member, you can also stand for election for the Executive Committee position. You should consider getting a membership if you are interested in getting involved with the governance of the society, whether to vote as an ordinary or life member, or to eventually serve a position in the society. Members are required to pay membership fee, depending on the membership category.
Volunteers, on the other hand, assist Doctors For You in carrying out its humanitarian work in the field. Volunteers may assist in various ways, including helping out in administrative work at the Headquarters and during events and exhibitions.
Volunteers are also sent out on field missions to disaster-affected areas. For field-related tasks, volunteers would need to undergo training to equip themselves for a mission. Volunteers are not required to pay any fee, although some training may incur a nominal cost to cover for lunch and training materials. A volunteer does not have voting rights in the society.

2. Am I eligible to be a volunteer with Doctors For You?
Yes, as long as you are eighteen (18) years of age or more, and subscribe to the objectives of Doctors For you as a society. Any persons irrespective of race, religion, gender or nationality will be considered.
3. Am I guaranteed an opportunity to volunteer with if I register?
Your application will be reviewed and is subject to final approval from Doctors For You. We reserve the right to accept or reject any volunteer registration.
Opportunities to volunteer will depend on the missions that are available and the necessary skill sets required supporting those missions and programmes. Allocation of resources and personnel will be driven on a needs-basis, and as such we require your understanding on the matter.
4. Will I be given training as Doctors For You volunteer?
Our obligation to you as a volunteer is to ensure that you share our vision and mission, and understand the objectives of Doctors For You and the aim of our programmes.
We do this by conducting our volunteer induction programme on a regular basis, and to organize training programmes to ensure a level of professionalism in our volunteers before any deployment.
5. Will my performance be monitored as a volunteer?
Yes. We are committed to ensuring the highest level of professionalism and care in our work, and we expect the same from our volunteers who represent our organization in the field.
The terms and conditions of your appointment as a volunteer will be stipulated in a letter issued before each mission. Your specific role, the scope of your mission and reporting lines will also be outlined in the document.
We expect all our volunteers to abide by our rules and regulations. The roles and responsibilities of a Volunteer are indicated in the Volunteer Guidelines which will be issued to you at the beginning of each mission.
The Executive Committee shall have the right, by a majority of the members of the Council, to expel or suspend any Volunteer who has been found guilty of misconduct.
6. Will my welfare be looked after while I am on a mission with Doctors For You?
Yes. We are committed to look after the welfare of our staff and volunteers while serving on our missions.
While we take the necessary precautions to ensure your security and well-being, it is important for volunteers to understand that our work requires us to enter areas where conditions are less than optimal. As such, it is important that your expectations are managed through trainings and briefings before committing into any mission.
Debriefings will be performed after each mission, and support will be made available if necessary.
7. Can I complain if I am unhappy with my volunteering experience with Doctors For You?
Yes. We are committed to delivering the highest level of professionalism and care in our work, whether in the field with our beneficiaries or other stakeholders at our Headquarters.

Membership
8. Am I eligible to apply for membership with Doctors for You?
Yes, as long as you are a Indian citizen aged eighteen (18) years or more, and subscribe to the objectives of Doctor For You as a society.
Any persons irrespective of race, religion or gender will be considered.
9. Am I guaranteed a membership under Doctors for You if I submit an application?
Your application will be reviewed and is subject to final approval from the Executive Committee of Doctors For You.
Please note that the Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any membership application without assigning any reason whatsoever.
10. How do I apply to become a member of Doctors for You?
There are 3 types of Membership under our society; Ordinary, Life and Honorary Membership.
To be admitted to the society, you need to:
- Fill up the application form provided here.
- Get your application to be proposed and seconded by an existing Ordinary or Life Member of the society.

or mail directly to our office address.
11. What is the difference between an Ordinary Membership and a Life Membership?
The main difference is the mode of payment which entitles the member to exercise the voting privileges within a given year.
An Ordinary Member will need to ensure that the membership fee is cleared before March 1st of every year to ensure that he is eligible to vote in the AGM within the same year.
A Life Member will have voting privileges for the duration of their active membership once the initial one-off payment is cleared.
12. Can anyone become an Honorary Member of Doctors For You?
No. Honorary Members are nominated memberships.
Any distinguished individual, who has either directly or indirectly contributed to Doctors For You objectives as a society, may be elected as an Honorary Member subject to the approval of the Executive Committee.
The Honorary Member shall have no voting rights in the society.
13. How do I know the results of my membership application?
All applications received for membership will be evaluated by the Executive Committee.
The Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any membership application, or to request an interview with the applicant before making their decision.
The results will be communicated to you in writing.
14. How much do I have to pay to become a member of the society?
You will need to pay the following fees:
Entrance Fee of INR 1000.00 payable on application for both Ordinary and Life Membership.
Subscription Fee of INR 1500.00 per annum for Ordinary Membership, due before March 1st every year.
Life Members are required to pay a sum of INR 20,000 one-off payment.
15. What are my privileges as a member of the society?

As a member, you are entitled to have access to the rules of the society, and to receive a copy of the annual report containing the last annual return of the society. (Via Email)
16. What are Doctors For You obligations to the members of the society?
According to the Societies Act (1860), we are required to prepare financial statements to be made public and tabled at our Annual General Meeting (AGM). We ensure that this is done through our Annual Reports and by publishing our Annual Financial Statement in the newspaper.
We hold our AGM on the First Week of August of every year, where all members are invited to attend to examine the financial statement, vote on matters arising, and to vote for or stand up as a candidate for the Executive Committee.
